Who We Are

Over a thousand Mount Holyoke alums live in the vast geographic area spanning from California’s northern border with Oregon south to San Francisco and east to Lake Tahoe. Whether you have lived in the area for many years, just moved here, or are briefly stopping by, we invite you to be a part of our community by attending an event, connecting with us, and/or volunteering.

In addition to our gatherings and meet-ups at alum homes, museums, theaters, local businesses (many of which are women-owned!), etc., we have a book club that meets monthly over Zoom (drop-ins welcome) to discuss works by authors of color. We hope to see you at an upcoming event!

Like the College, the Club is committed to “take on the work of becoming anti-racist collectively”, as well as to uphold “the shared values of our inclusive, respectful, agile and collaborative community” in line with the Alum Association’s strategic pillars. As alums of a gender-diverse women’s college, we are keenly aware of the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive space. The Board encourages Club members to share their thoughts and feedback about how we can best support our community and make our values clear in our policies and practices.

Our all-volunteer Board consists of a range of positions including (but not limited to) a president, a treasurer, and general board members. In addition to these longer-term commitments, we also offer other opportunities that suit alums with different experience levels, availability, and interests.

Any Mount Holyoke alum who has added a primary (or secondary) address in Northern California to their Alum Directory profile automatically becomes an Active Member. Alums are defined by the Alum Association as any “graduate or non-graduate, who attended Mount Holyoke for at least a year, or any recipient of a graduate degree from Mount Holyoke College.”
