Alums from New York, Connecticut, Georgia, and California participate in this year’s Lunar New Year Cookalong led by Sarah Lau ’07.
Dear fellow alums,
January was buzzing with lots of activity! From a Lunar New Year cookalong to a meet and greet with the College’s Interim President Beverly Daniel Tatum, our alumni showed up in full force! President Tatum, in conversation with Maya Perkins ’97 and Sowmya Subramanian ’96, led a powerful discussion on “being authentically bold” in one’s profession and personal life. It was wonderful to be in a community with graduates from class years 1970 to 2022! Thank you all for coming together for our events; attending a social gathering is one of the simplest ways to connect with new and familiar MHC classmates.
And a special thank you goes to all of our amazing event leads: Hannah Fairbanks ’03, Laura Donovan ’13, Catherine Geeslin ’14, Sarah Lau ’07, and Katie Wynen ’05. We have more exciting events on the horizon. Stay tuned! Lastly, we’d like to give a shout-out to all of our alums, including Bay Area alum, Eleanor Chang, ’78, who came together to create a video greeting in honor of Lunar New Year.
Before we sign off, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the recent violence against our AAPI and Latinx communities in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, as well as the murder of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, TN. We are heartbroken and outraged by how many times we have been here before. We know many of you are also deeply impacted by this violence, just as we are. Please remember to reach out to your communities, including your NorCal alumni network, should you want to process recent events together. We are with you.
Best,
The Board

Pay Your Dues
Many thanks to those of you who have already paid your dues and/or become lifetime members. Your annual dues payments and donations enable our volunteer-run club to host a diverse slate of events and programs throughout the year. Dues pay for renting event venues, food and beverages when applicable, guest speakers, offsetting costs of certain events, subsidizing costs for those who normally wouldn’t attend because of lack of funds, and much more.
If you want to pay membership dues for the 2022-2023 year or become a lifetime member, please do so here: MHC Club of Northern CA Membership Dues. If you prefer to pay by check, please email us. Additionally, if your company offers corporate matching or incentives for volunteering or being a part of a non-profit organization, we are happy to work with them to find ways to financially support our club.
