Alum Afternoon at the Theatre: Kim’s Convenience

We’re excited to invite you to a special alum gathering for an afternoon performance of Kim’s Convenience, the hilarious and heartwarming play that inspired the beloved Netflix series. We have reserved a block of mezzanine tickets for $60 each.

This award-winning comedy-drama centers on Mr. Kim, a Korean-Canadian corner store owner in Toronto, navigating the challenges of generational differences and cultural shifts within his family. It’s a deeply moving and funny tribute to the immigrant experience, celebrating the families that have shaped Canada into what it is today. Written by and starring Ins Choi as Mr. Kim, Kim’s Convenience is his heartfelt “love letter” to his parents and all first-generation immigrants who have made Canada their home. The performance will feature open captions, ensuring everyone can enjoy the story in its entirety.
We invite you to join us for this special afternoon of theatre, connection, and reflection. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and experience a powerful story that resonates with anyone who’s ever navigated the balance between tradition and change. We look forward to seeing you there!

🏙️ Mountain Day Urban Hike! 🥾
🌞 Bring water, a hat, and your Mountain Day spirit! ⛰️

Join us for a Mountain Day Urban Hike on Sunday, October 5th at 10 am! Looking to explore newer parts of SF? We will start at the new Crane Cove Park in the Dogpatch. Depending on the size and interest of the group, we will either head south to check out Heron’s Head Park in the Bayview, or, we will head north to check out Mission Bay/Embarcadero/Fisherman’s Wharf.

Plan for around 6 miles/2 hours total. The route is flat either way with stops as needed.
Ideal to take BART/public transit/uber to Crane Cove Park due to limited parking in the area. If you are commuting into the city for the event, leave plenty of time for parking and note that meters can be limited in the area. There are parking lots closer to AT&T Park. Note that there is no Giants game this day. Dogs are welcome.

When: Oct 5, 2025 10:00 AM
Where: Crane Cove Park (RSVP)

Biotech Coffee – Fall ’25
Join us in South San Francisco (“Birthplace of Biotech”) for another round of lively conversations that span the full lifecycle of a biotech career: from grad school applications and navigating the ups and downs of start-ups or big pharma, to planning for retirement. No topic is off the table, and it’s a great way to connect with fellow alums across generations.
This fall’s Biotech Coffee will be co-hosted by Yasmin Chandrasekher ’84 and Susan Tom ’98. We’ll gather at Oyster Point Starbucks, a familiar stop within the biotech hub of SSF, and look forward to another morning of energizing discussions and new connections. This event is open to Seven Sister/Sibling alums.

When: Nov 8, 2025 11:00 AM
Where: Starbucks (RSVP)
Contact:  Susan Tom ’98

Are you interested in (co-)hosting an event for the MHC NorCal Club? Check out our website for more information about organizing an ad hoc or onetime event, which can be anything from a casual get-together to a more coordinated outing. We’re able to support event leads with logistics, so no prior event planning experience is required! We’ve also helped alums promote their NorCal-based art exhibits, book signings, and more; check our website for more details.
